Lung Cancer: Take Action
Lung cancer is the number one cancer killer in the United States. It is time to change this statistic by taking action. You can make a difference by contacting your elected officials in Congress and urging them to support more research for and efforts to protect people from lung cancer. It is also critical to use social media as a tool for raising greater awareness of lung cancer and encouraging loved ones and acquaintances to join you in taking action.
Since 1980, the American Lung Association National Headquarters in Washington, D.C., has served as the hub of a nationwide Legislative Network that enables volunteers from across the country to participate in grassroots advocacy on a variety of lung health-related public policy initiatives. You can learn about the American Lung Association’s public policy agenda and get involved by becoming an advocate for lung health.
One pressing issue in lung cancer is the need for more research. Please send a letter to your elected officials highlighting your personal story and urging Congress to increase funding for lung cancer research.
Spread the word about the need for lung cancer awareness and research through social media – including Twitter, Facebook, You Tube and Flickr! Start by linking with the American Lung Association on these social networks to stay informed on the latest developments in lung health.
